Club Notes – 8th October 2018

*Disappointment for our U11’s in the East Down ‘C’ league final on Sunday morning. The young Aughlisnafin team came up against a much stronger St Johns side who despite only leading by five points at half time won well in the end. Ryan Quinn got the solitary goal for the Fin with Marty Og Flanagan (0-4), Brogan Clarke (0-1) and Dillon Steele (0-1) also on target. The St Johns keeper making several excellent saves to deny the Fin further goals and the strong crossfield wind making it difficult for both teams to take their scores. It’s all about the development and they have shown excellent improvement year on year. With all except two of the seventeen strong squad still eligible at this grade next season hopefully they will go one better next year. And so ends a brilliant season for this U10.5/U11 group who have reached three tournament cup finals and a league final finishing runners up on every occasion. But as the saying goes if you keep kicking the door it will eventually open. Well done to our players and coaches.
