Club Notes – 10th December 2017

The first meeting of the new Executive Committee was held last Tuesday evening and plans were put into place for the new season.

Sales continue unabated for our Big Fin Christmas raffle. The raffle will be held in Mulhollands Bar on Saturday 23rd December and we have some superb prizes up for grabs. At just £2 a square can you afford to miss out ? Thanks to everyone who have supported this fundraiser to date. If you would like to enter the raffle there is still plenty of time so please contact any member of the committee.

The Down Clubs Draw tickets are now available to purchase. They can be bought for £120 in one lump sum which enters the ticket holder into an early bird draw for £200. The second option is a £20 deposit and ten monthly direct debits of £10 each. Each ticket sold by the club over and above 24 will see a return of £96 per ticket sale thereafter. Support you club and your county at the same time. Please contact our draw co-ordinator Sheenagh Flanagan if interested.

The Aughlisnafin teams of yester year are featured in the recently published book on the History of the GAA Clubs in Down. The very first club team was known as McSweeneys, Aughlisnafin and they were formed in 1927. There are photographs of the Down Feis Sevens winning team of 1938, the 1966 team and the 1970 team. All those who have pre-ordered the book through the club can now arrange to collect from Gerard Lenaghan. Further copies of the book may be obtained upon request. The cost is £20 and all proceeds go to the Southern Area Hospice. A great cause. Well done everyone involved in collating the information for the book and to those supporting the charity in buying the book itself.

*Lotto numbers 2, 18, 21, 26. No winners. Jackpot £3,000. You can play the lotto on-line. Go to our club website www.aughlisnafingac.com and click on the klubfunder logo.
